GENERAL INFORMATION FOR POLICE OFFICER POSITION
High School Diploma or equivalent; must be at least 18 years of age; Must have GA P.O.S.T. Peace Officer Certification. Must be in good standing with P.O.S.T. (No active investigations or Probation with P.O.S.T.). Successful completion of the pre-employment process, which includes, in the following order: a Written Selection Test, an Oral Interview Board, a Background Investigation, a Polygraph Examination, a File Review, an Interview with the Chief of Police and a Medical and Drug Screening. Must possess a valid State of Georgia driver’s license and have a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
Starting salary: $49,121.00
All Uniforms and Equipment provided by Department
12-hour shifts (Patrol Division)
Take Home Patrol Car (If the officer resides within 25 miles of the city limits)
Paid Holiday Leave
GMA Retirement System with 2.5% multiplier (fully vested after 5 years of service with the city)
New Rule of Retirement Eligibility – Rule of 80 – minimum age of 55 + years of service = 80 – can retire with full benefits (applies to certified public safety)
